Description

The NuMex Mirasol is an improved mirasol-type chili developed at New Mexico State University from traditional Mexican landrace varieties producing upward-pointing pods that ripen to bright red with a mild fruity heat and pleasant berry-like tartness similar to the classic Mirasol. When dried it develops into a guajillo-type chile with deeper earthy fruity complexity ideal for moles and sauces. The NuMex breeding program improved yield disease resistance and pod uniformity while preserving the authentic flavor of the traditional Mexican variety.
