The Siling Labuyo is a small fiery bird's eye chili native to the Philippines belonging to Capsicum frutescens. Its tiny upright pods of 1-2 cm ripen from green to brilliant red with intense heat of 80,000-100,000 SHU. Deeply embedded in Philippine culture it is used fresh dried and fermented in dipping sauces vinegars and traditional condiments and is considered the hottest commercially cultivated chili in the Philippines.
